Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - * It Stinks ...
I have one 3 lb. kitten. The box and hood are great and the kitten likes the litter. But do not be fooled.....It doesn't handle odor the way other litter does! I still scoop everyday from under the cardboard lip.
Before my Scoopfree came i was using a disposable box w/ litter (Cats Pride) Far superior litter! I will not be buying anymore replacement cartridges. I will use a permanent cartridge and fill w/ own litter. A waste of money!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * it works!!! ...
thank god...it works! every two weeks i replace the cartridge and my cats (2) are happy. what a great product!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - * Very Dissapointed - Overrated, VERY Expensive, Never again! ...
I was probably one of the first people to buy one of these "Scoop-Free" litter boxes - about 2 years ago. I bought it as a gift for a new cat owner while I attended a focus group for cat owners that was sponsored by the Scoop-Free folks. The inventor/owner of the company was there on hand to extol the virtues of his new invention.

It sounded good. I got a deal on the box, so it seemed like a good idea.

The owner of the company promised a "Discount" on cartridges if you buy them in quantity. Otherwise, they cost $15 each. PetSmart was mentioned as a dealer that would have them in multi-packs at a discount - as was Amazon. (Six cartridges for $89 and change... Um - that's $15 per cartridge. Where's the discount!?)

The "discount" is pretty lame. Nowhere near the savings the owner/inventor promised.

That's only half of it.

As others have mentioned, this litter box is NOT odor free! The solid waste is scooped up and sits is a tiny little compartment and it festers there - stinking and festering and getting moldy. IF you have more than one cat - or a larger cat - the undersized compartment QUICKLY overfills and won't even close - making sure the odor permeates your home. To make the litterbox a *little* less odor-full, you can remove some of the solid waste - but there goes the scoop-free claim.

About that 30 days (and "forget it") - I suggest you forget about 30 days entirely. Even with one normal size cat on a normal diet - it won't go anywhere 30 days without attention. *Maybe* 2 weeks if you're very very lucky. With 2 cats - ONE week at the outside.

Buy this litterbox if you have money to burn on cartridges ($15 apiece - no real discounts to be found) or want to impress your friends. (just make sure to clean out those cat potatoes before your buddies arrive!)

PERHAPS if you don't mind fussing with dirty litterboxes, you could clean out the cartridge and refresh the soiled litter with bulk crystal litter. That might make it a little more affordable.

Personally, I'm sorry I spent the money. Sorry I bought this as a gift for a friend - saddling her with the expensive refills. As it is - she only uses it when she goes out of town. (and when she gets back - the place reeks.) It's JUST too expensive to use for an "everyday" litterbox.

Save your money. The litterbox that can go more than a couple of days without attention hasn't been invented yet.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Works as advertised ...
It took a couple days for my two cats to get used to this box and we had one accident on the carpet.

But they've been using it for a month now and it was totally worth it. There is much less tracking of litter through the house and it is easy, simple and mess free to clean the cartridge.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * its ok ...
well, i was so excited when i first bought this cuz i'm at work all freakin day and my poor kitty is all my himself in his room and i just dont have time or energy to clean the litter box at the end of a long day. so i plugged it in and after two weeks..the smell started coming...b/c the trays are so expensive i really wished it would have lasted longer but after 3 weeks it was unbearable! i had to buy a new tray (petsmart $15.99) is the cheapest i could find. so, it doesnt last a month, sorry guys...after two weeks it stinks, but you can cover it up by spreading the crystals over the space that the little hood leaves (the poops starts to lift up the little cardboard hood)so i mean its cool that its so clean, but the smell just kills you after 3 weeks.

pricey..is it worth it? there's not better alternative so..a forced yes.

Joshua Logan's 1967 film of the hit Broadway musical about the love triangle between King Arthur (Richard Harris), Guenevere (Vanessa Redgrave), and Sir Lancelot (Franco Nero) is strong on star emphasis and weak on such fundamentals as story and sets. Except for a handful of solidly dramatic scenes--such as Guenevere grieving, late in the film, for the ruination she and Lancelot have caused--there's not a lot to get excited about. (The story's theme of a lost, great society, however, certainly struck a chord in the 1960s.) The Lerner-Loewe songs ("If Ever I Would Leave You," "Camelot") pretty much sell themselves, even if they are, at best, only proficiently performed in this movie. --Tom Keogh

"The book was better" has been the complaint of many a reader since the invention of movies. Frank Darabont's second adaptation of a Stephen King prison drama (The Shawshank Redemption was the first) is a very faithful adaptation of King's serial novel. In the middle of the Depression, Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) runs death row at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. Into this dreary world walks a mammoth prisoner, John Coffey (Michael Duncan) who, very slowly, reveals a special gift that will change the men working and dying (in the electric chair, masterfully and grippingly staged) on the mile . As with King's book, Darabont takes plenty of time to show us Edgecomb's world before delving into John Coffey's mystery. With Darabont's superior storytelling abilities, his touch for perfect casting, and a leisurely 188-minute running time, his movie brings to life nearly every character and scene from the novel. Darabont even improves the novel's two endings, creating a more emotionally satisfying experience. The running time may try patience, but those who want a story, as opposed to quick-fix entertainment, will be rewarded by this finely tailored tale. --Doug Thomas

On the DVD

Listen to our interview with Frank Darabont.
Anyone who has seen this Oscar-nominated film knows Frank Darabont likes to t-a-k-e h-i-s t-i-m-e. He certainly does the same in filling all three hours of his commentary track which he recorded over several sessions. Darabont has studied other DVDs and purposely does not repeat tidbits covered in the excellent new 90-minute documentary on author Stephen King and the making of the film. Other solid segments are two deleted scenes, a never-used teaser trailer, and Michael Duncan Clarke's screen test. The highlight is two remarkable tests of Tom Hanks in old-age makeup. Both are very credible, but it was decided to use another actor. The outcome is a DVD that puts the "special" back into the special edition. --Doug Thomas

When Roman tribune Marcellus Gallio (Richard Burton) is sent to Jerusalem, one of his assignments is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Marcellus, a cynical and hardened man, wins the robe Jesus wore to the crucifixion while gambling with other Roman soldiers underneath the dying savior. He later becomes convinced that his hallucinations and violent outbursts are the result of a curse received from the robe, which is now in the possession of his escaped slave, Demetrius (Victor Mature), somewhere in the Middle East. He sets out to find Demetrius in order to destroy the robe and the curse and finds faith instead, converting to Christianity. This was the first movie to be filmed in CinemaScope, and won Oscars in 1953 for costume design, art direction, and set decoration. The visual aspects of the film are stunning, and it may be worth viewing for that alone; however, the script and acting leave much to be desired, and you won't find inspiration in these areas if that's what interests you. If, however, you are more interested in this film for its religious matter, the story of the conversion of the hardened Marcellus is inspiring. --James McGrath
