Rating: - * Great litter ... We discovered this product at a local pet store, where it was being demo'ed. They poured straight ammonia (we smelled it) into a vial with this litter, upon contact the odor was completely neutralized. While we only have one cat, he can be a "smelly cat"...but it's not his fault. :) We keep our box in the house, since using this litter you would never know...and no more extra cat box deodorizers, etc. Because this is more expensive than regular litter, we put a good layer on the bottom of his box, then cover with a layer of regular clumping cat litter. Now when he "digs to China" and aims for the back corner...no smell and no problems. The large bag is nice for a continued supply, when I cannot find the smaller bags on sale locally. The bag arrived quickly, boxed, with no problems and was still less expensive than local pricing, even with the $5 extra weight charge. (34 lbs, but free base shipping.) If you have multiple cats, or a "smelly cat", then this is the product for you! Rating: - * Best I've tried so far! ... This litter is the best I've tried so far. My older, diabetic cat used to get the clay stuff trapped in his paws and on his hind legs and I would have to wash and scrub the attached "cement" a couple of times a day because he couldn't reach to clean himself any longer. With this stuff, no more "cement" paws! I use the extra-strength one, but still add a cup of baking soda (purchased cheaply at a restaurant supply store) when I change the litter every month, and it seems to keep the odours to a minimum. All our cats use it with no fuss whatsoever. I keep mats outside the boxes to prevent trails and my tile floors stay clean. All-in-all, I can't recommend this litter enough. It's great! Rating: - * it does clump, but the poo smells better than the litter ... This litter does work great, especially for those flip over litter boxes. but it stinks so incredibly bad. it can be fresh litter, just put in, and yet it still has this horrible "corn meal" type odor. i'd rather smell the cat crap! Rating: - * Nice concept, not so great execution ... What sells most people on clay litter, aside from its inexpensive cost, is that it truly masks odor and, as long as it's relatively fresh, carries no odor of its own. I tried really hard to adopt a more sustainable litter that both my cat and I could live with but it didn't work out so well. This was not the worst "natural" litter I tried, it really does mask litterbox odor, but unfortunately it has a scent of its own that my cat didn't like. For some reason she would go Number Two in this litter but would "think outside the box" for more... liquid pursuits. If your cat is not oversensitive to grain odor, this might work out for them, but ease them into it. You don't want the first indication that it's not working out to consist of funny smells emanating from the carpet, especially if you're renting. :( The odd part is, it wasn't a sudden switch that messed her up, because we started using clay litter again quite by accident--someone was helping me out during the move to a new apartment and bought litter for us, and it was Fresh Step, and she took right to it with no problems--as if to say, "Thank God, I can stand to go potty in my box again!" Rating: - * Worth every penny! ... A skeptic turned believer! After 20 years using grocery store brands, I bought this upon Vet's recommendation. And my three new kittens took to it right away. I scoop out once a day and both litter boxes remain odor- free! And my favorite part: no more poop-baggies--I flush it all down the toilet! |
